Two men die in separate Va. traffic accidents | Richmond Times-Dispatch.

The Richmond Times Dispatch reports on two recent car accidents in Virginia.

William Patrick Simmons was a passenger in a car that was apparently street racing Monday February 22 on Interstate 664 in Chesapeake, Virginia. Three cars were racing at a speed of about 90mph when one of the cars tried to pass on the shoulder and struck the rear of a vehicle on the shoulder that had a flat tire. The racing car flipped onto the median and Mr. Simmons was killed.

The other cars raced away and police are seeking information about them.

In an unrelated accident, Timothy Lane Simms was a passenger in a truck traveling on Route 29 near Route 360 when the truck blew a tire and flipped three times in the median. Simms died at Danville Regional Medical Center.

Their deaths brought the number of people killed on state highways this year to 90, compared with 124 at the same date last year
