If you are lucky you will have health insurance to pay your medical bills. Before you go to a new doctor, like a physical therapist or an orthopedic, call them to make sure they take your health insurance.

They say things like “Shouldn’t their car insurance pay the bills?” Or “I don’t want to use my health insurance.” There is a very good reason why you should always use your health insurance if you were in a car wreck.

Someone has to pay the medical bills. If you have no health insurance the car insurance settlement money covers the bills. If health insurance pays your doctor bills then you get to keep the car insurance money. It goes to you instead of to the doctor. Sounds better that way doesn’t it?
