A new study from the Highway Loss Data Institute seems to indicate that laws banning texting while driving seem to have not resulted in fewer crashes. In fact, some indications suggest an increase in accidents.

Researchers speculate that the reason for these findings might be that people are not complying with the new law, and are now looking down to text in their lap.

All the more reason for you to be extra careful while driving and look out for people texting in their lap.
